Plan with the season, decide with the forecast
A seasonal guide provides background for a visit. For a particular day, use the current forecast’s valid hours and issue time. Weather can differ between places and between years.
December to February
Check for wind and rain as well as temperature. Use hourly detail to understand the timing of forecast intervals and check regional waves before a sea crossing.
March to May
Keep walking and outdoor plans flexible around changing wind and rain. A warmer afternoon does not mean the surrounding water has warmed by the same amount.
June to August
Plan for heat and sun exposure, with water and shade for time outside. Read wind and wave forecasts even when the land forecast shows clear skies.
September to November
Compare the forecast hours for the day’s activities and any return journey. Read sea temperature as one field rather than a verdict on swimming or boating conditions.
